Gold Coast City Council Activates Dynamic Weather Warning Ads
In an effort to help local residents prepare for any potential cyclones, fires or floods that may occur over the summer season, The City of Gold Coast (GCCC) activated a new ‘Get Ready’ campaign using different weather warning messages displayed across digital bus shelters.
In collaboration with QMS, the campaign turned bus shelters into intelligent local message boards, to provide flexibility, relevance and immediacy of messaging for the council. By utilising the dynamic capability of DOOH, GCCC were able to broadcast warning messages and preparation advice to locals, depending on in-coming weather feeds live from Open Weather.
The City of Gold Coast ‘Get Ready’ campaign can deliver multiple creatives based on four main weather triggers fed live from Open Weather into QMS’ digital scheduling portal.
These include:
Get Ready Floods – 10ml+ of rain predicted;
Get Ready Cyclones – when a cyclone is predicted;
Get Ready Bushfires – when an extreme fire warning is issued; and
Get Ready generic creative – to be played when no other triggers occur

Our digital bus shelters are part of the community and what The City of Gold Coast have done is a clever way to harness the dynamic capability of our digital locations to connect, engage and inform local residents with accurate and live weather warnings to minimise damage and prevent serious injury or harm.
